For eight weeks—June 8th through July 31st— I was the marketing and graphic design intern for the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. However, a majority of my responsibilities were graphic-design oriented, and included:
- Drafting multiple flyer concepts for the International Emmy World Television Festival to aid the Marketing, Web and Design Manager.
- Editing the company’s Prezi presentation. This includes images, graphs, photographs, and overall layout.
- Making the academy’s logo used for the International Emmy World Television Festival.
- Creating a vector background pattern for the International Emmy Awards Gala print invitation.
flyer cONCEPTS
I was told to create the drafts using Adobe Illustrator CS5 (for easy re-sizing), and was limited to the colors maroon, white, and black.
Festival Logo Design
In addition to making flyer concepts for the International Emmy World Television Festival, I was also asked to design a new logo for the event . After making a few mock-ups, the final product was chosen by the Executive Director.
Vector Shapes for the 2015 Gala Invitation
My supervisor (the Marketing, Web and Design Manager) tasked me with creating vector versions of art deco shapes she’d made using Photoshop, so that they could be printed with maximum clarity. The shapes were printed on the 2015 invitations for the International Emmy Awards Gala. My supervisor was responsible for the formatting, overall design, and printing of the actual invitation.
Client Gift
Like his father in 1984, Roberto Irineu Marinho won the Directorate Award in 2014.To commemorate his win and pay tribute to his late father, the academy’s Senior Director wanted to send Marinho a shadow box filled with photographic memorabilia. They needed me to edit all of the photos that would go into the frame.
Logo Editing
The original Emmy logo was created using Photoshop rather than Illustrator, and had many subtle errors. The Executive Director of the academy allowed me to create a new vector version of the logo, which they could use for future print projects. Here is the edited logo, along with a printed example of how it was used.
